Meet Father Francis Scott

Father Francis Scott is a true Ottawan, an outdoorsman, an organist, and has served the Church in every part of the city. Shepherd of the Church Across our City. He went to school at St. Michael Corkery and Almonte High School, later graduating from Algonquin College (Ottawa) in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. He worked in the Federal Government for three years and then took a vocation to priesthood. 1984 – Ordained from St. Paul University, right in the center of the city. Saint Paul University is a Catholic Pontifical university federated with the University of Ottawa. That same year, he started out ministry work at the St. Augustine Parish. 1988 – Named pastor of St. Isidore Parish in Kanata. 1994 – Became the spiritual builder at a new parish in Stittsville, the Holy Spirit parish. 2000 –- Named pastor at St. John the Apostle in Nepean and celebrated his Silver Jubilee in 2009. 2009 – Went to the St. Martin de Porres parish in Bells Corners 2015 – Moved back to his original roots at the St. Augustine parish, which he calls his “second coming”. With over 33 years of experience, he has grown to appreciate the deep importance and call for priesthood. He is a prime example for the Catholic faith and morals.

Outdoorsman. He is also a rugged outdoorsman who enjoys being outside. Some of his favorite moments are in the nature. His two favorites pastimes are fishing and gardening. The reasons are simple. Both enable you to shift your focus to the present. They reconnect you with nature, and give you time to think and put things into perspective.

Fishing also allows him to explore of new places, new sceneries, and meet new people. Gardening is also a way for him to commune with nature. He finds it satisfying to see something grow and it makes his world beautiful.

Father Scott has always been serving the Church with passion—tirelessly, faithfully, and with great compassion. He has planted seeds of hope and love in many lives across Ottawa over the past three decades. And he continues to show hospitality to all and give encouragement to many in our community.
